# Connect Auvik Network Monitoring to Thread

> Set up the Auvik integration in Thread by creating an API-only user, generating an API key, and configuring the Auvik base URL for network visibility.

### Prerequisites

**Create user with API only access:**

  <Step title="Access Manage Users then Roles.">
    Log in to your Auvik account as an admin and access **Manage Users** → **Roles** on the left Navigation board
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click on the Add role button.">
    Click on the Add role button
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill-in Role name.">
    Fill-in Role name (ex. Thread integration)
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click on API Access Only checkbox and click Save.">
    Click on API Access Only checkbox and click Save
  </Step>

  <Step title="Navigate to Manage Users then Users.">
    Navigate to **Manage Users → Users**
  </Step>

  <Step title="Assign an existing user or invite a new one.">
    Now you can either assign existing user with Thread integration role or Invite new one and indicate role:

        To assign role to existing user click on the checkbox near the user's name and click on Authorize
      </Step>

      <Step title="Select the companies to grant access to.">
        Click on checkbox near company names you want to grant access to
      </Step>

      <Step title="Choose the Thread integration role.">
        Click on Roles button and choose Thread integration role in the dropdown
      </Step>

      <Step title="Click Save.">
        Click Save
      </Step>

  <Tab title="Inviting new user">
    <Steps>
      <Step title="Click on Invite users.">
        Click on Invite users
      </Step>

      <Step title="Fill-in the email address to invite.">
        Fill-in email address you want to invite
      </Step>

      <Step title="Select the companies to grant access to.">
        Click on checkbox near company names you want to grant access to
      </Step>

      <Step title="Click Send.">
        Click Send
      </Step>

      <Step title="Make sure the user has accepted the invitation.">
        Make sure that user has accepted invitation
      </Step>

      <Step title="Log in as the user with the Thread integration role.">
        Log in into Auvik account as User with Thread integration role
      </Step>

      <Step title="Access the Profile page.">
        Access Profile page by clicking on username on the left bottom in the navigation bar
      </Step>

      <Step title="Generate the API key and store it.">
        Click on Generate in the API KEY section and make sure to store it somewhere
      </Step>
    </Steps>

  <Step title="Fill in the Base URL.">
    Fill in Base URL with [https://auvikapi.us2.my.auvik.com/v1/](https://auvikapi.us2.my.auvik.com/v1/) where us2 should be replaced by region your account resides. To see your region, log into your Auvik dashboard and look at the URL in your browser’s address bar. For more information, please refer to official Auvik regions documentation)

  <Step title="Fill-in Username with the Auvik API user email.">
    Fill-in Username with email of Auvik user with API access
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill-in API Key with the token you generated.">
    Fill-in API Key with token you've generated (see prerequisites if you do not have one)
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill-in Domain prefix.">
    Fill-in Domain prefix. It can be found in Auvik's profile page in the API Key sections)
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Connect.">
    Click Connect
  </Step>
