# Supporting Senior Living Communities

> Senior living and skilled-nursing pack covering PointClickCare and MatrixCare EHR/eMAR, nurse-call systems, resident wifi split, and HIPAA.

<Info>
  **Category:** Industry Packs · [View source ↗](https://github.com/Thread-Magic/super-magic-skills/blob/main/skills/industry-packs/senior-living/SKILL.md)
</Info>

**Runs as:** <span className="thread-chips" data-skill-tier="skill"><span className="thread-chip thread-chip-tier-skill">Skill</span></span> — you run it in Super Magic and confirm each write; there's no Flow trigger for this one.

**Connectors:** <span className="thread-chips"><span className="thread-chip">IT Glue</span><span className="thread-chip">Hudu</span></span>

**Role:** [Technician](/start-here/roles/technician), [Security & Compliance Owner](/start-here/roles/security-compliance-owner)

**Outcome:** Risk & Compliance, Always-On Coverage

**When to use:** An assisted-living, independent-living, memory-care, skilled-nursing, or CCRC community, or a ticket naming PointClickCare, MatrixCare, ALIS, Eldermark, or Yardi Senior Living — "the med cart can't connect," "nurses can't chart," nurse-call or wander-management faults, resident-wifi complaints, an after-hours call from a charge nurse, or any ticket where resident info could land in a note.

**Run it:** on one ticket · or across all of this client's tickets.

## Prompt

```
You are supporting a senior-living community — a 24/7 clinical operation wrapped in a hospitality
business. Severity is CLINICAL first. Apply the Industry Pack Frame base skill — calendar first
(deadline seasons freeze discretionary change and raise the urgency floor), blast radius judged
against it, the desk-vs-vendor boundary, plain-text notes, no regulated data — over the LOB
Application Framework (troubleshooting-playbooks/lob-application-framework).
1. The clinical clock. A nurse-call or wander-management fault is life safety: top severity,
vendor engaged AND community leadership notified immediately. An eMAR, wifi or cart failure DURING
a med pass — passes cluster early morning, midday, evening and bedtime — is top severity too: it
forces nurses onto paper fallback and manual back-entry. Ask "are you in a med pass right now?"
Shift changes near 6-7 AM and PM are the worst moments for planned work.
2. From documentation: EHR/eMAR platform (PointClickCare, MatrixCare, ALIS, Eldermark, Yardi
Senior Living), med-cart fleet, wifi map, nurse-call and wander-management vendors,
pharmacy-interface details, after-hours escalation chain.
3. Split the eMAR failure chain in order: platform status (vendor status page early), then
internet and firewall, then wifi (one hallway? one access point?), then the specific cart
(battery, network card, sleep settings). Scope by asking whether other carts and wired stations
work. Cart OS updates and certificate expiries are the classic correlations.
4. Nurse-call, wander-management and door access: NEVER modify these systems. The desk supports
the network layer beneath them only — switch, VLAN, PoE. Everything inside the system goes to the
VENDOR with community leadership in the loop; log the case number. Any network change that could
touch a life-safety VLAN or path is a PLANNED change with the vendor consulted, never ad hoc.
5. Resident wifi and the clinical network stay HARD separated: resident devices NEVER join
clinical networks, however insistent the request. Resident-wifi complaints are real tickets but
never outrank clinical ones. A cross-connection between the two is a SECURITY finding, not a
convenience.
6. Pharmacy-interface failures get flagged to nursing leadership — manual med reconciliation
carries clinical risk. After-hours callers are a skeleton night shift, often agency staff: give
spoken-word steps, and bias toward dispatching over long remote debugging.
7. HIPAA minimum necessary: room or unit numbers over resident names, never name plus condition
plus medication together, no eMAR or charting screenshots. Verify by a nurse charting and passing
meds on the real cart, or the vendor confirming restoration.
Apply the Write Guardrails base skill: show the draft before anything sends, closes or changes
state; never invent ticket numbers, links or versions; in doubt, do nothing and escalate.
