# Share Super Magic chats with teammates

> Turn a Super Magic conversation into a read-only link your teammates can open — no more screenshots into Slack. Rotate or revoke access from the chat header.

## What sharing does

Sharing gives you a link to any of your Super Magic chats that teammates in your workspace can open as a **read-only** view. The full transcript is visible — every message, tool call, and confirmation card — but nobody can send new messages, take actions, or delete the chat from a shared link.

Use it when:

* You want a teammate to pick up where you left off on a troubleshooting thread without re-explaining what you tried.
* You need a second pair of eyes on how Super Magic reached a conclusion before you act on it.
* You want to hand off a chat as reference for a runbook or a post-mortem.

Shared links only work for signed-in members of your workspace. They are not public URLs.

## Every chat has its own URL

Every Super Magic chat now lives at its own address — `/super-magic/{id}` — in the full-page Magic view. That means you can:

* **Bookmark a chat** and jump back to it from your browser.
* **Refresh the page** without losing your place — the chat reloads instead of resetting to a blank state.
* **Copy the address bar URL** as a quick link to that chat.

Selecting a chat from **Past Chats**, starting a new one, or creating a chat from a suggested resolution all update the URL to match. Starting a new chat sends you to `/super-magic` — a clean slate.

Chat URLs are still workspace-scoped. Sending someone a chat URL only lets them open the chat if you've also enabled sharing on it (see below). Otherwise they'll see a not-found message.

## Share a chat

Prerequisites:

* Super Magic is enabled for your workspace.
* Your admin has enabled chat sharing for your workspace. Contact your admin if you don't see the share icon.
* You are the **owner** of the chat you want to share. You can only share chats you started.

Steps:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the chat to share">
    Open the Super Magic chat you want to share — either from the sidebar or the full-page Magic view.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select the share icon">
    In the top-right of the chat header, select the **share** icon.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select Shared">
    In the dialog, select **Shared**. Super Magic mints a link and copies it to your clipboard.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Paste the link">
    Paste the link into Slack, Teams, email, or a ticket note.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The share icon shows a subtle active state while the chat is shared, so you can tell at a glance which of your chats have a live link out.

To copy the link again later, open the same dialog and select the copy icon next to the URL.

## See who has viewed a shared chat

Once a chat is shared, Super Magic tracks which of your teammates have opened it.

* A **viewer facepile** appears next to the share icon in the chat header, showing avatars for the most recent viewers.
* Open the share dialog to see the full **Viewed by** list with a total count. The list refreshes every time you open the dialog, so you don't need to reload the page.

Viewers only see themselves in the shared, read-only view — the facepile and viewer list are visible only to the owner. Revoking the link or starting a new chat clears the viewer list.

## Stop sharing or rotate the link

* **Stop sharing.** Open the share dialog and select **Keep private**. The token is revoked immediately and any existing link stops working.
* **Rotate the link.** Select **Keep private** to revoke, then select **Shared** again to mint a fresh link. Old links stay dead.

Rotate a link whenever you're not sure who forwarded the original, or when the sensitive part of a chat is done and you only want a smaller group to keep viewing it.

## Open a chat someone shared with you

When you open a shared link, Super Magic loads the chat in read-only mode:

* A **Shared by *\{owner}*** pill appears in the header so you know who sent it.
* The composer, share icon, and delete controls are hidden.
* A **Read-only view** footer sits below the transcript.

You can scroll the full transcript and expand tool-call cards to see exactly what Super Magic did, but you can't reply or run any actions. To continue the work in your own chat, start a new Super Magic conversation.

If the link has been revoked or the chat was deleted, you'll see a "not found" message instead of the transcript. Ask the owner for a fresh link.

## Good to know

* **Sharing is workspace-scoped.** Only signed-in members of the same workspace can open a shared link. External contacts cannot.
* **Shared chats aren't a copy.** They stream from the original chat, so any new messages the owner adds show up the next time a viewer loads the link.
* **Only owners can share.** If a chat was shared with you, you can't re-share it — the share control is hidden in read-only view. A teammate who opens a chat URL you own always gets a read-only view.
* **Older shared links still work.** Links you generated before the URL change (in the `/super-magic/shared/{token}` format) continue to open the same chat in read-only mode.
* **Desktop app links open in the web app.** Links minted from the desktop app point at the browser Inbox so teammates can open them anywhere.
