How to Enable Chat and Timepad Custom Tabs in HaloPSA

Updated by Bryan Chapman

With Halo, you can seamlessly chat with your customers in real-time through a custom tab. Whether you're ready to explore Thread's full-featured inbox or want to manage your daily tasks more efficiently within Halo, we've got you covered.

Note: Custom tabs are automatically created when a new workspace is set up. If you don’t see them listed under Configurations (Configurations → Custom Objects → Custom Tabs → Tickets), please contact Thread Support for assistance.

Two Experiences with Thread

Thread Chat

  • Bring the power of Thread directly into Halo! Access all the robust features our inbox offers, including:

  • Magic AI chat
  • Snippets
  • @mentions
  • And much more!

Thread Timepad

  • Automate your time entries to streamline your workflow with ease.

How to Add Thread to Your Service Ticket View in Halo

  1. Log in to Halo.
  2. Navigate to the Configuration section.
  3. Go to Tickets → Ticket Types.
  4. Select the Ticket Type where you want to add Thread Chat and Timepad.
  5. Go to the Allowed Values tab.
  6. Scroll down to Custom Tabs.
  7. Ensure Allow all Custom Tabs is checked, or click the + icon to add custom tabs manually.
  8. Add the following custom tabs:
    • Thread: Auto time entries
    • Thread: Real-time notes
  9. Click Save.
  10. Repeat these steps to add custom tabs for Thread Chat and Timepad to any other ticket types.
Tip: You can adjust the order of the Thread Chat and Timepad custom tabs to make them appear before others when viewing a ticket in HaloPSA. To do this, go to Configuration → Custom Objects → Custom Tabs. Select the "Thread: Auto time entries" or "Thread: Real-time notes" custom tab and modify the number under Sequence. For example, setting the sequence to 0 will place the custom tab at the front, making it more accessible when viewing a ticket in HaloPSA.
