Dashboard Agent
What it is
The Dashboard Agent is Magic Analytics' built-in AI assistant for asking questions right on your dashboards. Ask in plain English and it answers — often with a chart or table — drawing on the same governed topics that power your dashboards. No query building required, and it only ever has access to your organization's data.
What it can do
- Ask follow-up questions about any tile in natural language
- Drill into a subset of the data and re-aggregate the results
- Summarize what a chart is showing
- Focus on a specific chart — click it, or choose Ask a follow up question from the tile's ⋮ menu
- Go beyond what's on the dashboard by exploring the available topics
How to open it
Two ways:
- Open the Dashboard Agent panel on a published dashboard and start typing.
- On any tile, click the ⋮ (three dots) → Ask a follow up question — this opens the agent already focused on that tile.
The agent stays focused on the chart you selected until you clear the focus or close the panel.
Great questions to ask
- "How many tickets did the Triage Agent handle last month?"
- "What's my Voice AI call volume week over week?"
- "Which customers don't have Messenger enabled yet?"
- "Where are auto-categorization exceptions highest, and how do I improve accuracy?"
- "What's my estimated time saved this quarter?"
Tips for great answers
Tip | Why it helps |
Name the area | Mentioning a topic (Triage Agent, Voice AI, Messenger…) helps it scope the question. |
Give a time frame | "last 30 days", "Q2", "week over week" produces sharper results. |
Ask one thing at a time | Break multi-part questions into steps. |
Iterate | Refine if the first answer isn't quite right ("now break that out by customer"). |
Good to know
- Answers come from the daily refresh — the Dashboard Agent isn't real-time.
- It can only answer within the topics you have access to (see Topics you can explore).
- Some topics are pre-aggregated, so it can summarize and re-cut those metrics but can't drill to individual rows (see Things to know & gotchas).
